Deuteronomy 12:7 “There also you and your households shall eat before the LORD your God, and rejoice in all your undertakings in which the LORD your God has blessed you.”
Have you stopped to thank our Creator and King for the food you ate today? Often times we don’t think about what we stuff into our mouths as we rush through our days. Here is what the average American consumed over the past year…1,996 pounds, or nearly one ton of food per person. The figure comes from economists who crunched food consumption data collected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Now here is the breakdown:
On average we consume 630 pounds of milk, yogurt, cheese and ice cream per year with about 31 pounds of cheese alone. We chomp through 185 pounds of chicken, turkey, pork and beef, and wheat and other grains totaled 197 pounds. Better news is that we eat 273 pounds per person of fruit and 415 pounds of vegetables, but the most popular choices are corn and potatoes. Shockingly, 141 pounds of sweeteners (including 42 pounds of corn syrup) and 85 pounds of fats (think: butter) and oil rounded out the numbers.
Now that you know what you have eaten, make better choices as you are able, and GIT Growing! #growingintorah #whatdidyoueattoday
